Crash on startup of OSX 10.6.8

Description
I am occasionally getting a crash when starting up OS X 10.6.8 in VirtualBox. Then usually it boots correctly if I immediately start then same machine from the Manager, even without exiting. Attached is a screen shot of what is seen after a failure. This seems to have started after the last OS X system updates several weeks ago.
