Description
Hi,
libIDL has been deprecated 8 years ago and some distributions (i.e., Gentoo) are trying to drop it. VirtualBox still depends on it (it is the only dependency left in the tree).
Please consider finding a non-deprecated replacement.
Thank you!

Hi galitsyn,
It is a build time dependency. I cannot build from sources without having libidl installed. It is used by out/linux.amd64/release/bin/xpidl

Alpine Linux removed libidl: https://git.alpinelinux.org/aports/commit/?id=3a13e02e129c3b202ed57d053ebe0884c6512618

Summary: | Deprecation of libIDL on Linux → Deprecation of libIDL on Linux => fixed in SVN/next 7.x.0 release |

We finally got around removing the libIDL dependency. This will be included in the next major release (not 7.1.x or 7.0.x).
Hi ceamac,
Official VirtualBox 7.0.0 Linux packages do not depend on libidl from what I can see. What exactly do you mean?
