#16327 new defect
"Auto Capture keyboard" option doesn't work
Reported by: | Hi-Angel | Owned by:

Component: | VM control | Version: | VirtualBox 5.1.12 |
Keywords: | input, usability, configuration | Cc:
Guest type: | all | Host type: | Linux |
Description
Virtualbox captures keyboard even when told to not do so.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a VM (e.g. create an empty one).
- Go to Preferences → Input, and make sure the "Auto Capture Keyboard" is disabled.
- Run the VM.
- Focus the VM window (e.g. click on it)
- Try global hotkeys of the host, like switching workspaces, windows, a player — nothing works.
It seem to be a regression to the old #8596, but I'm not naming it so because I don't know when it stopped working.
Tested on Archlinux, i3 WM.

Replying to j1simon:
This option still doesn't work.
Your VBox.log still not attached...
Does anyone read previous comments/requests, or is the "me too" urge too strong?
Are you using an Oracle build or an Arch build? If the second, could you please try an Oracle build? Could you please try to reproduce with a different window manager? And please attach a machine log file<1>.
