VirtualBox does not allow releasing media when a snapshot references it

Description
I have created a snapshot of a VM a while ago while it had the guest additions attached to it. Now I cannot get the old ISO virtual media removed. It should be possible for snapshots only reference certain VM settings and "release" others (such as unneeded virtual media).
