VirtualBox cannot allocate enough memory for the VM process. This is a restriction of the 32-bit address space. Try to reduce the memory for that VM. I think 1.5GB should be still sufficient for Ubuntu. If you need more memory you have to somehow force your host to run in 64-bit mode. I actually wonder why your computer still runs in 32-bit mode on Mountain Lion.
