VM GUI does not open, machine visibly starting in preview

Description
When clicking on the "Start" button for any VM in the VM Manager, it starts, but no VM control window appears. However, the machine is visibly starting in the small preview box. I know of 2 workarounds:
- Use RDP.
- Close VM Manager. Restart the VBoxSDS service. Open VM Manager and wait until it appears. This fixes my problem until the host reboots.
These are the commands I run to restart the VBoxSDS service:
sc stop VBoxSDS sc start VBoxSDS
