Incorrect CPU cores detection

Description
I have a AMD FX-4100. It's a quad core CPU. I've created new VM for Live Linux. GUI detects only 2 cores. If I try to setup more than 2 cores for VM, GUI says that I've setup more cores, that physically available. I tried to downgrade and gone down all way to somewhere around 4.2.20. GUI there detects cores normally, but when starting VMS it fails with "AMD-V is disabled in the BIOS. (VERR_SVM_DISABLED)." which is not true. Is it possible to fix cores detection by GUI? VM itself seems using all 4 cores.

If you have a significant slowdown of guest VM (and the more cores you set - slower it is) - you should try to disable software, which may also use virtualization. In my case it's a sandbox of Avast antivirus: turn off via settings - compatibility - unchecking some checkboxes will help.

Are you running VirtualBox 4.0.8? From 2011? 7 years ago? How about updating first to something that's more... today?
As of today, the current version is 5.2.20. Please update first and see if the error is still there.
